As the other reviewer said, it worked great until now, but I think it's fair to expect more than a year out of a piece of electronic equipment. We've owned this DVD player less than a year and it has stopped working. Won't recognize it's connected to the television, and doesn't stay powered on for more than a minute (it slowly loses juice and then fades to off). Not sure what it will cost to repair, but we're thinking that at a retail price of a little over $100, we should probably just buy a new one. It won't be a PIONEER though.
After reading many reviews for various DVD players, I selected this Pioneer. I have certainly not been disappointed in the easy set up, simple to use controls and superb performance. The picture quality through HDMI cable to my new LG HDTV is amazing -- very close to blue-ray.
After a futile attempt to clean the sensor head I have given up and intend to replace it. I have owned a DV-410V player for about 15 mos and was quite pleased with its operation until its recent demise. Best guess is that the disk drive failed, no reason to suspect electronics failure; function was temporarily restored after one cleaning. It cannot load DVDs, attempts to do so for about 1 min and then reports "no disc". I tested with several disks, commercial and home-burned, to no avail. The player was used for about 5 hrs/week during its brief operational lifetime. The player gets high marks for function, the two star rating is due to short lifetime. Fairness demands pointing out the possibility that this unit was an outlier.
A nice piece of equipment, reasonably priced and a great value. Solved many problems with an older unit. Good going Pioneer.
This DVD player is so close to Blu-Ray it's not funny. I saved so much money and now have a picture so crisp my Blu-Ray owning friends are kicking themselves. Ha--I win.
